Meet Phuong

Hi, I’m Phuong, but you can call me Phu.

I'm an artist, facilitator and the founder of Phuto Art House.

After changing careers from engineering to art, I discovered that creativity changed more than what I did for work. It changed the way I paid attention.

Making art taught me to slow down, stay curious and find wonder in things I might otherwise have walked straight past.

That way of seeing now sits at the heart of everything I make through Phuto Art House.

In my art practice, I paint the ordinary things that make life feel a little more wondrous; moments in nature, familiar places and small details worth noticing.

Through Creative Lab, I create spaces for other people to step away from the everyday, reconnect with their creative side and experience the joy of making without needing to be an artist.

And through Another Round, my annual independent zine, I bring together stories, illustrations and conversations about creativity, community and the things I'm curious about that year.

They might take different forms, but they all come from the same place: a belief that life becomes a little richer when we stay curious, make things and pay attention to what's around us.

I'm still figuring things out as I go through making paintings, writing, facilitating, experimenting and probably getting distracted by something interesting along the way.
