FOUND OBJECTS: A Graphite Drawing Workshop for Everyday Creativity

Found Objects is a relaxed graphite drawing workshop that invites participants to rediscover creativity through the beauty of the ordinary.

Using simple objects gathered from the office or personal items from their desk, we explore shape, light, shadow, and texture in a gentle and curious way.

No experience needed. No pressure to be “good.”

Just pencils, paper, and the magic of seeing everyday objects with fresh eyes.

Participants will:

  • Learn foundational graphite skills (line, tone, shading, texture)

  • Build confidence through low-stakes, bite-sized drawing exercises

  • Choose a personal or found object to complete a finished graphite study

  • Experience mindful observation and creative play

  • Walk away feeling proud, relaxed, and surprised by what they can create

This workshop is perfect for:

  • Team-building at companies

  • People who haven’t drawn in years

  • Anyone craving a calm, creative reset

Durations: 2 hours

Materials: All supplied

Skill Level: Absolute beginner to gently intermediate

Location: On site at your office or event venue in Sydney

Lesson Plan

  1. Welcome and seeing the beauty in the everyday

  2. Warmups

  3. See like an artist and demonstration of how to best use the humble but mighty pencil

  4. Found objects Task 1 - grab something from your desk that is low pressure to draw. Your favourite mug, a piece of fruit, bottle. Spend 15 minutes tapping into your creative flow.

  5. Signature Piece - create a still life with your team mates collected objects to create the ultimate (and cheeky) office piece de resistance. You will be guided through:

    • blocking in shapes

    • mapping shadows

    • rendering texture

    • capturing highlights

  6. Add a simple background with a secret artist method and sign off your masterpiece

  7. Mini gallery viewing, group photos for corporate team social media and closing

Who is your instructor?

Hi, I’m Phuong; the artist behind Phuto Art House. Before becoming a full-time creative, I spent years as an engineer in the corporate world, where burnout slowly dimmed my spark. Rebuilding my life through art taught me how powerful creativity can be, especially for people who don’t think of themselves as artistic.

That’s why I teach. My workshops blend technical skill, gentle humour, and mindset shifts that help people reconnect with their creative instincts; an invaluable result that can lead to more “aha!” moments.
